Consent

Meaningful consent is the foundation of Canadian privacy law. This page sets out what you are consenting to when you use Knect, and how to change your mind.

Last updated: August 28, 2026

1. What you are consenting to

By creating a Knect account, publishing a card, or submitting your details through a contact-exchange form, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy:

  • operating your account, workspace and published card;
  • making the contact details you publish publicly accessible through your card link, QR code, vCard and wallet pass;
  • recording privacy-preserving scan and view analytics for the cardholder;
  • sending service and security notices related to your account; and
  • sharing information with the service providers that host and deliver the platform.

2. Express vs. implied consent

We obtain express consent where information is sensitive, where a use is outside your reasonable expectations, and before sending commercial electronic messages under CASL. Implied consent covers information that is clearly necessary to provide something you requested — for example, generating a vCard from the details you entered on your own card.

3. Consent is not a condition of unrelated service

We do not require you to consent to collection, use or disclosure of personal information beyond what is necessary to provide Knect, as required by PIPEDA Principle 4.3.3.

4. Marketing messages (CASL)

Commercial electronic messages are sent only with your consent, always identify Knect, and always include a working unsubscribe mechanism that we honour within 10 business days. Transactional and service messages — billing, security, and account notices — are not marketing and continue while your account is active.

5. Consent for details you publish about others

If you publish another person's contact details on a card — for example an employee or a colleague — you are responsible for obtaining their consent first and for removing their details promptly on request.

6. Withdrawing consent

You may withdraw consent at any time by:

  • unpublishing or deleting a card in your workspace;
  • using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email;
  • deleting your account from Account settings; or
  • emailing privacy@cpxs.ca with your request.

Withdrawal is subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent that is necessary to run the service will end your ability to use it, and previously printed QR codes will stop resolving to a live card. We will explain the consequences before acting on a withdrawal request.

7. Age of consent

Knect is intended for individuals 16 years of age or older. Consent from anyone younger is not valid, and we will delete such information when identified.
